Losi Late Model Rules Update
We're making some changes in our Late Model class rules. The intent is still to keep costs for a competitive car under control. Our "house" Late Model class is essentially a stock class allowing only normal tuning and upgrades designed to limit breakage or maintenance costs. If 3 or more racers show up with cars with more modifications we are willing to run them together in their own class. The changes from our previous rules are to allow Mamba 4200 KV motors, and some selected aluminum aftermarket upgrades.
Stock Losi Mini Late Model - run "out of the box" with the following allowable changes: - Changes to springs / shock oil / spring spacers / internal limiters. Losi Aluminum shocks are permitted. - Adjustments to toe & camber. If a racer wants to upgrade to the Losi titanium link set / heavy duty ball cups to minimize breakage, we permit it but don't encourage it. The use of aftermarket steering bellcranks / links is permitted. - Any Losi tire / wheel combination made for Mini Slider or Mini Late Model (we've found the stock tires work well on the carpet right out of the box without needing CA or traction compound) - 6 cell NiMH batteries only. Maximum 1400 mAhr - Stock motors. Brushes & springs may be replaced. Due to the need to replace the stock motor frequently we have decided to allow the use of the Mamba 4200 KV brushless motor with the Mamba 25 or Mamba Sidewinder Micro ESC. We've tested this combination against stock motors and found the speeds to be comparable with the maximum gear ratio noted below. - Stock differential (shimming allowed) or Losi Ball diff (PN LOSB1125) - Electronics: Stock receiver, ESC and servo must be used. Any compatible radio may be used. - The pinion / spur gear may be replaced to alter the gear ratio. If using the Mamba 4200 KV motor the spur gear must be 58T or larger and the pinion must be 22T or smaller. - Stock body must be used but custom painted Losi clear bodies can be substituted for the RTR body. - Fasteners may be replaced with alternates of same size Please note that the motor rule change does not apply to the Summer Carpet Oval Series events. We don't feel it is right to change in the middle of a points series. So for these Saturday events, stock Losi motors must be used. (sticky) Aug 1st, 2008 (11:40 AM)We're Cooler Than Ever

(sticky) May 28th, 2008 (11:38 AM)Fastlane Tamiya Mini Class Rules
The Tamiya Mini Class is becoming popular at Fastlane and it's time to publish the official Fastlane rules for the class. These rules are based on TCS rules as modified by the leading Mini racers in the KC area. These rules will be in effect for the upcoming Midwest Grand National On Road Race as well as weekly racing. As with any rules, Fastlane reserves the right to make changes at any time as it deems are in the best interests of competition.
Tamiya Mini Class Rules Modifications in this class are very restricted. The intent is to create close, competitive and fun racing. Tamiya TCS rules apply except as specifically noted below. Chassis: Tamiya M03 Chassis Only! Any variation of the M03 chassis is legal, including M03-M03M-M03L-M03R. MO4 Chassis are not permitted. Option Parts: Tamiya parts only. No parts from other manufactures unless specified here. Any Tamiya Hop-Op Option and spare part allowed under TCS rules is acceptable as long as it is used in the way it was designed, and on the vehicle it was designed for. It is strictly forbidden to cut, mill or lighten the chassis. It is strictly forbidden to re-engineer or modify the car in any way other than with Tamiya Hop-Ups. Electrical and electronics: Any connector or direct hard wiring of the motor and / or batteries is allowed. Any manufacturer's electronic speed control, radio equipment, servo saver, servo, antenna, antenna mount is permitted. Miscellaneous hardware: Any manufacturer’s ball bearings are allowed. Screws and nuts may be replaced with those from other manufacturers. The use of thin shims to space out the slop or play in suspension arms, steering bell-cranks and wheel axles is permitted. Shimming the steering arms to reduce bump steer is also permissible. Any other alteration of the steering / suspension geometry of the car or its basic geometric design is not legal. Batteries: Only Orion/Peak 3200 Lipos or UNMATCHED "Sport" style stick packs rated 3300 maHr or lower are allowed. Motors: “Silver Can” box stock motors only. Old style Johnson, new style Johnson, standard Mabuchi and non-shiny new style Johnson motors only. Any motor other than these will not be legal for races. Tires and inserts: Inserts from any manufacturer are permitted. Any Tamiya tire designed to fit the "M" chassis is permitted as long as the tires and wheels conform to the scale look of the body and are no bigger than the Tamiya 60D tire. Running 26mm or 24 mm sedan wheels and tires is not allowed. The use of tires of different diameters on the front and rear of the car is not allowed (i.e. standard M chassis tires on the rear and M-chassis 60D's on the front). Bodies: Any Tamiya body intended for the M chassis. Any modification not specifically allowed above is prohibited. The Race Director retains the right to disqualify any car deemed to violate the letter or spirit of the rules of this class. (sticky) Mar 26th, 2008 (2:54 PM)2008 ASPHALT RACING SCHEDULE
Here is the provisional schedule for racing outdoors on the Fastlane Asphalt track this summer. Our summer season begins and ends with events with the Heart of America R/C Championship Series, one of the longest running series in NA (37 years strong)
May 3rd and 4th - Heart of America season opener May 18th June 1st June 22nd July 20th August 3rd August 17th September 14th September 20th and 21st - Heart of America Series Class rules are being developed (we'll try to accomodate all the OP racers who may want to come out) and the track will be configured to allow good racing for both electric and nitro powered vehicles. See ya at the races..... Big Chuck (sticky) Mar 12th, 2008 (9:59 AM)Losi Late Model Carpet Oval Class
Like many tracks, Fastlane depends on developing a flow of new racers. This is a challenge because the "start up" costs for many classes can be significant. One solution to this problem for carpet oval racing is a stock class for the new Team Losi 1/18th scale Mini Late Model. These cars run well on our carpet oval right out of the box. Add a couple extra batteries (and a fast charger if needed) to the Losi RTR package and you're racing. In order to keep costs for a competitive car under control, here are the rules we're following for the Losi Mini Late Model Stock Class:
Losi Mini Late Model - run "out of the box" with the following allowable changes: - Changes to springs / shock oil / spring spacers / internal limiters - Adjustments to toe & camber. If a racer wants to upgrade to the Losi titanium link set / heavy duty ball cups to minimize breakage, we permit it but don't encourage it. - Stock differential (shimming allowed) or Losi Ball diff (PN LOSB1125) - Electronics: Stock receiver, ESC and servo must be used. Any compatible radio may be used. - The pinion / spur gear may be replaced to alter the gear ratio. - Stock body must be used but custom painted Losi clear bodies can be substituted for the RTR body. - Fasteners may be replaced with alternates of same size We're open minded about an open, modified class for these cars if there is sufficient interest. Our policy is we'll create a class if 3 or more guys with similar cars show up and want to race. But we're committed to developing the stock, Mini Late Model class as a fun, affordable class where a new guy can start at a reasonable price and be as competitive as his (or her) driving skills allow. The majority of the guys who currently have cars and run at our place feel the same. So we can pretty much guarantee a turn out of stock Mini Late Models to run against when you come to Fastlane.
